"Another DSP Cross-Over"

HEY!

What a day! Even tho it's still cold it was so great to see and feel the sun! It melted away some of the ice in our dirveway but it's still kinda dangerous! Last night I made another card using the cross-over DSP ... This one has to be my favorite so far! I used Chocolate Chip CS and the Bella Rosa DSP.
Enjoy!
Blessings to you!

ANGEL

Good Evening Everyone!
Hope you all have had a great day! I was supposed to be on the road today but we changed plans due to the weather...although it's not been bad around here. I spent some time this afternoon in my craft room. I cased a card made by Jami Bova - found her card on Our Daily Bread Designs site under card samples for the set "Sing To The Lord"...really liked the way she used the DSP so decided to try a similar approach. It's pretty simple ... I changed it up a little by adding a photo corner to the right-hand corner. The sentiment is from the set "Sing To The Lord" (ODBD); the CS and DSP is Stampin' Up! as is the button; the angel is a stamp I picked up at Photo Memories in Burnside; and I used the oval Nesties and some glitter... after I had it all together I thought, "Ah, Gee! I could have used a couple brads on there too!" This is not a color combo I would use very often but I seemed to be drawn to these colors when I went looking for paper so...... this is the finished product!

Enjoy!
Blessings!

OCCC Jan. 27, 09

Hey!
I have returned! My goal for today was to do some writing and to complete another challenge... I have achieved both! Whoo Hoo!
Here is the Card I created using this weeks Sketch Challenge from Our Creative Corner. The flower I used is from the Ink, Spray, Smash paper I made last week; with a Filigree Brad in the center; Raspberry Tart DSP; Pink Pirouette CS; and the new Pink Pirouette Ribbon...did I say yesterday I have oodles of ribbon? Well! more was delivered last night! I'm not really a "Pink Person" but I love this PP CS and Ribbon...it's so soft yet has a presence about it!

Enjoy! Now to see if I can get this posted to the OCC site!
Blessings!

Whoo Hoo! I WON!

Hey all!
I am not posting a new card this morning ... I am posting a card that I submitted to Our Daily Bread Designs as part of a challenge... and I WON!!!
Go figure! I just sent an email off and they will be sending me some SHIMMERZ - it is a waterbased paint that can be applied with a brush or an aquapainter.
This is too crazy!
Have a wonderful day!
Blessings and Peace to you all!

Valentine 'Venture '09

Hi All -
Here are the samples for the Stamp-N-Stack held last Saturday

On Saturday I had some gals in to do a Valentine Stamp-N-Stack! It's always a fun time to get together and we learn much from each other! I've had a bad cold these past couple days ... but just had a burst of energy... re-organized my stamps, my stamping table, and am now working on my ribbon collection! Didn't know I had so much ribbon!
Here's a couple of the girls in deep concentration!
One of the girls filled her TopNote bag with her cards!
Just of few of the kreations!

Hope you're having a great day!
Remember to count your blessings - count them one by one!
Joy to you!

Birds & Blooms

Hey!
I knew I wouldn't have a chance to post this Satruday as it is a busy day! Having a group in to do a Stamp-N-Stack of Valentine cards; out for supper (hubby is off this weekend - whoohoo!!!) I made this card yesterday using the Birds and Blooms die cuts ...this is the first time I've used them even tho I rec'd them before Christmas! It was a bit tedious - but fun! Now I need to get the creative juices flowing so I can come up with some different ideas for using them! I cuttlebugged the background using the Swiss Dots - has to be my fav so far!
Enjoy!
Blessings on yah!

Color Inspiration #39

Hi All!
Two posts in one day! I decided today to do a color challenge...Kristina Werner at KWerner Designs posts a Color Inspiration Challenge weekly. Some of the cards submitted for her challenges are awesome! She will pick 15 personal favorites from all the submissions (last week there was over 200+ for her to look at!) So - here is my card for this challenge... using So Saffron, Green Galore, Real Red, Whisper White, Basic Black. You will note that I have used some Glittery black and silver CS that I purchased at Michael's a few months ago. The stamp set is a retired hostess set from Stampin' Up! called Serene Spring - earlier today I mentioned how I long for Spring to arrive! Guess that's my theme for today! I colored with blender pen, markers and ink; used black gingham ribbon , bold brads; also, the scallop edge punch.
I popped the bird scene, matted in black, on the red; and then popped the red on the card background... I also popped the butterfly. This is a retired set as I said - however, I'm thinking it's a "keeper".
The biggest challenge now will be to get the card uploaded to her site so she can see it. Wish me luck!

Enjoy!

Nature

Good Morning all!
Big White snow flakes are falling today..so I like to think about the season to come - (SPRING). I'm not a winter gal! How about you? I love nature - and all the wonderful creations around me - and this card just made me feel peaceful and serene. Hope it inspires you to do some masking and sponging... check out Michelle Zindorf's blog - she is such an inspiration - her work is incredible! She gives step-by-step tutorials for each card she makes...a great way to learn!
Have a wonderful wintery day!!!
Blessings!

ICHTHYS

I imagine you're thinking, "What is that word?" Well, it is a Greek word - meaning Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior - I just did some research on the FISH that you see in the card I made... I never really understood why the fish was a symbol of my faith. Now I do! If you're interested in reading more go to the Thisisthedayrejoice link to the right of your screen on Friday the 23rd of January!

This fish is in the stamp set "Flourished Christian Symbols" by Our Daily Bread...I clear embossed the fish but you can't see that in the picture. Again, I used the Ink, Spray, Smash technique on this card....I still haven't perfected this tech. but hope to do so at some point! Hope today has been a good one for you all! Remember ... "There is always, always, always something to be thankful for!" Don't know who said that but I certainly agree with them!

Blessings on yah!

ODB Challenge

Hi folks!

I had a busy weekend being Grammie for a couple days to my wonderful granddaughter...Love having them come home and hate seeing them leave! This morning I made a card to enter in Our Daily Bread designs (ODB) first challenge of 2009. I have never entered a challenge before; certainly don't expect to win anything; had fun being creative!
I used Kiwi Kiss as the background CS; Raspberry Tart DSP; Kiwi Kiss satin ribbon; a couple of Ice Brads; and the ODB stamp set called Flourished Christian Symbols...I did the "gradation technique" on the bird (use markers, light to dark hues, color in the solid stamp, use daubber to blend edges of color, huff (breathe) on the stamp and - VOILA! Isn't he pretty? I say 'he" because we all know that in the bird world the male is much more colorful than the female! Wonder why that is?
Gotta run - lots to do!
Hope you all are having a wonderful day!
Blessings!

Ink, Spray, Smash Wreath

Hi there!

The card I am showing you today is one I cased from the Splitcoast gallery of mikinks.typepad.com.... It was a little time consuming but worth the effort in the end ! I hope you will agree!

The Ink, Spray, Smash technique is fairly easy - you need glossy card stock and re-inkers to do this. Take 3 re-inkers and drop ink onto the glossy CS; then spray both pieces of CS (with water), take the 2nd piece ...smash it down on the inked piece and apply pressure...carefully lift the top piece off and place somewhere to dry . It dries fairly quickly and then you can use it as background or ... as this gal did... punch out pieces to use! I used the 3-flower punch from Stampin' Up! and punched out a bunch of flowers from the glossy CS. Love this card! Will probably make a few more like it! Hope you'll give it a try!

Blessings!

"Inspired By Nature"

Good day, everyone! I made this card a while ago using the Inspired by Nature stamp set from Stampin' Up! I tore a piece of scrap paper and used it to mask the Whisper White CS as I sponged with Bashful Blue Ink .... made it look like clouds in the sky. The background is Basic Grey CS; and Always Artichoke ink on the grass. This is the first time I have used Basic Grey CS - I quite like it! This looks to me like a peaceful setting by the ocean! Enjoy.
Blessings!

New Catty!

Well, gals!
The Spring & Summer Catty has arrived ... at my house anyway! I already have a wish list ... mostly accessories. Lots of new sets and fresh ideas! and lots of dies for the Big Shot (or CuttleBug!). I am posting a card today that I made from the TopNote Die ... I used Pacific Point from the In Color CS (I love the boldness of this blue!) and used the stamp set " A Flower For All Seasons". Cut your paper as you would for a card (5 1/2 by 8 1/2) - fold in two...place fold inside the cut lines on the die (either top or side) and this is what you get!
How cool is that! Have a good one!
Blessings...Ruthie

"Just Buzzin' By..."

Happy Morning!

A quick post - just had to share these with you! I have a new set from the Spring and SummerCatty of Stampin' Up! - hopefully my shipment of catty's will be arriving by next weekend! The set is called Just Buzzin' By - Bees are not my most favorite of God's little creatures, however the 3 little bees in this set are the cutest things! each with their own facial expressions! Last night I decided to make a couple cards - pretty basic actually. I had also decorated the front of a coffee bag - I CASED this from "Stamp A Little Love".... thought it turned out OK! Used the honey pot as a vase for the flowers!

Have a great weekend! Ruthie

Contribution

Another snowy day...guess we need to expect that in January, aye?

Yesterday, a friend and I spent the afternoon making Valentine cards as part of our contribution to the "Cards for the Troops" . There are an estimated 6-10 of us who do this every so often - lots of times we get together in one palce and have a great day in friendship, fellowship, food, and doing one of the things we LOVE to do ... make cards! I wanted to show you a picture of a few of the 40
cards we made yesterday. Just think - if each of us makes 20-40 cards - WOW! amazing!
Have a wonderful day! May you truly be thankful for the country we live in! Remember to pray for those who have provided that for us!
Blessings on yah!

Valentine's For the Troops

Hey! this is my second attempt to post this .... I lost the other one! Go figure! I apologize for the quality of my pictures - I'm still working on that too! :)
I awoke this morning with "How Great Thou Art" running through my head! Needless to say I've had a thanks-filled morning!
I rec'd an email the other day about making some Valentine Cards to send off to the troops (Thanks Cindy, for keeping us on our toes!). What a thrill it is to know that we are blessing those who serve our country as well as the people they send these cards to! Let's never forget to pray for these men and women, and their families.
I made a few simple Valentine Cards last night and wanted to show you a couple of them. Both cards were done with Chocolate Chip CS, Bella Rose DSP, and Stampin' Up! stamp sets. Hope you enjoy!

Refuge and Strength

Hey!

This card uses all Stampin' Up! supplies:
Pink Pirouette for the background; Whisper White Top Note cut-out (as you can see I only used 1/2 of the Top Note); Raspberry Tart DSP; Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red inks; Refuge and Strength stamp set; Whisper White taffeta ribbon.
Isn't it wonderful that our God is concerned about everything that touches our lives? No matter how big or small!
This is a new set to me ... I just rec'd it the other day - have wanted it for awhile and decided the time had come to invest in it!
I trust your day is filled with good things!

Blessings,
Ruthie

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

This is my second post to this site! Whooo Hooo!
At this moment in time I am in a LARGE learning curve!!!!!!!!!!!
so please bear with me! :)

I made this card to give to a lady in our church family who lost everything in a house fire just prior to Christmas... the congregation got together last weekend to "shower her with blessings". I am awed - as she was - at the outpouring of love extended to her!

Used Pink Pirouette for background .... DSP is NEW Raspberry Tart coming in the Spring & Summer catty (S. Up!); stamp set is from ODB - Enjoy!

Blessings,
Ruthie
